Ingredients

  • 2 cups of masoor/moong daal. 2 medium sized onions finely chopped. 5 - 6 cloves of garlic finely chopped. 1 tsp turmeric. 1 tsp chilli powder. 1 tsp onion garlic chutney. Salt as per needed. Coriander for serving.

Directions

  • Soak daal in water for 10 mins. In kadai add 3 tsp of oil. Once the oil is heated add cumin, chopped garlic and let the garlic turn golden brown. Add finely chopped onions to the garlic and let it cook. Once onion becomes transparent add turmeric, chilli powder, hing powder, and onion garlic chutney and salt as per needed. The onion mixture starts leaving the oil from the side. Add the soaked daal and mix well. Add the required water and cover with lid. Note : add water gradually to the daal as per needed. Serve the daal kanda with chopped coriander.
